The Waste Management Plan implemented in July 2015 to improve the handling and sorting of waste generated at Group headquarters at Warriewood has resulted in significant improvements in our waste diversion rates.

Waste-Diverted

Waste diverted to best practice landfill

To make these changes possible, all staff working on-site were educated in the new processes and the changes were trouble-free with staff adopting new practices.

We now receive detailed monthly waste statements from our contractors indicating volumes of waste entering the elected waste streams of best practice landfill (green electricity), diverted to material recovery facilities, sold on to tailored recycling partners (cardboard/paper) or through organic handling streams (EarthPower for renewable energy.).

In 2015 we generated more than 900 metric tonnes of waste of which 266.3 metric tonnes was sent to landfill. Of this amount more than 50% went to best practice landfill.

This means that we now divert 71% of waste into waste recovery streams.

Our on-site recycling collection points for the domestic waste of employees including mobile phones and accessories, batteries, light globes and fluorescent tube are well used.
